Who can apply for Private Retirement Scheme (PRS) Consultant

Unit Trust Consultant who have a valid Unit Trust license with FIMM have an option to take exam as a PRS consultant.


Eligibility Be A Private Retirement Scheme (PRS) Consultant

Application as a PRC is based on one of the following criteria.

1) Active UTCs with three (3) years experience as at 31 July 2012
2) Holders of CFP or IFP or ChFc or RFP
3) PRS Consultant Application with PRS Examination Requirement  (Individuals who do not meet the above item (1) or (2) criteria are required to sit for PRS examination)

In early April, the Securities Commission (SC) announced the birth of  Private Retirement Scheme (PRS) is timely considering the increasing life expectancies and rising living standards in Malaysia. According to Malaysia’s Economic Transformation Programme (ETP), The PRS industry is intended to complement and supplement the existing mandatory Employees Provident Fund (EPF). It also offers non-EPF and self-employed people another new way to save for their retirement. Participation in PRS will be voluntary.
